Project and Sales Manager – Salinas, CA

Responsibilities

  • Identify and close new business opportunities
  • Forecast and own revenue growth from new business
  • Utilize different lead generation resources to establish and grow the customer base through prospecting and in some cases cold calling potential customers, improving a repeatable sales process to drive to closure
  • Managing projects and trials with existing customers (growers, shippers and processors). Specifically, working closely with ag operation managers, harvest forman and field teams
  • Working with the fresh produce team on project and trial design to ensure successful trial outcomes and data integrity of trials
  • Present, promote and sell products/services using solid arguments to existing and prospective customers
  • Maintaining positive business relationships to ensure future sales
  • Responsible for building and maintaining long term commercial contracts with key growers, shippers and processors in California
  • Supply management with reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services
  • Achieve agreed upon sales targets and outcomes within schedule

 

Requirements 

  • >5 years experience working with growers, shippers and processors in the fresh produce industry
  • Experience implementing, managing and overseeing new projects and trials for an agricultural organisation
  • Experience managing internal and external stakeholders at all levels of an organisation
  • Successful quota caring sales experience in agriculture industry
  • Highly motivated and target driven with a proven track record in sales
  • Relationship management skills and openness to feedback
  • Familiarity with CRM (Salesforce) practices along with ability to build productive business professional relationships
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to simplify complex scientific concepts 
  • An interest and willingness to learn about remote sensing, Earth Observation and satellite/UAV imagery analytics 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite
  • Willingness to travel internationally and within the United States. 
  • Use of a car and clean driving record. 

 

Desirable

  • FAA certification or willingness to get FAA certification and operate UAVs.
  • In-depth understanding of agronomy, precision ag and sustainability.
  • You can talk to us about (at least) one large project involving many stakeholders where you were responsible for execution and delivery of the outcome.
  • You can show us a report you have written for one of your projects (for example, a project brief, business case, project deliverable or post project review).
